Juliana Snelling, Partner in Litigation at Mello Jones & Martin, was pleased to attend the Employment Law Alliance’s 6th Annual Meeting in New York City on October 21st and 22nd, 2005.

Mello Jones & Martin is the Bermuda representative member of the ELA, a powerful legal resource for employers. The ELA is a global alliance of 2,000 of the finest employment and labour lawyers from more than 60 nations dedicated to assisting employers. It has a presence in all 50 U.S. states and more than 300 cities around the globe, making it the most comprehensive network of employment and labour law attorneys in the world. The ELA is made up of established independent firms, linked together to provide a quick response to clients’ needs and innovative solutions to employment and labour law issues. Each member of the ELA, including Mello Jones & Martin, has an employment and labour law practice committed to excellence, integrity and innovation.

At the New York meeting, Juliana reacquainted with past contacts and met the newest ELA member representatives hailing from all over the globe including from Barbados, Dominican Republic, Hungary, New Zealand and Norway. First time attendees included Guam and Marianas and Latvia.

The meeting celebrated the unveiling of the Global Employer Handbook which is designed to provide businesses with concrete, up to date information on the labour and employment laws in all 50 U.S. states, every Canadian province and nearly 60 countries, including Bermuda. Through the use of hyperlinks, clients around the world are able to immediately access critical laws, regulations and cases that will help them to ensure global legal compliance. Detailed information is provided for each jurisdiction on all the critical labour and employment law and human resource legal issues.
